Microsoft 365 Single-Sign On

The Sky News Control Room Booking App has integrated SSO with Microsoft 365 via Okta, which is an identity management service that enables users to securely access their applications and data. This means that users can log in to the Sky News Control Room Booking App using their Microsoft 365 credentials, which simplifies the login process and increases security by reducing the number of places where user’s credentials are stored.

Maintenance

Resources365.io allows administrators to block out specific dates and times for maintenance purposes. This means that during these blocked out times, the resources in question will not be available for booking, ensuring that they are not being used during maintenance and repairs. This can be useful for ensuring that resources such as meeting rooms, equipment, and vehicles are properly maintained and in good working condition.

Administrators can block out resources for maintenance purposes in a variety of ways, such as by setting up recurring maintenance schedules, blocking out specific dates and times, or blocking out resources on an ad-hoc basis. This allows for a high degree of flexibility and customization, making it easy for administrators to schedule maintenance at a time that is convenient for them and their organization.

In addition, Resources365.io also allows for the creation of custom maintenance messages which can be displayed to users when a resource is blocked out for maintenance. This can help to inform users of the reason for the blocked out time and when the resource will be available again.

The Sky News Control Room Booking App’s Home Page is a dashboard that provides a quick overview of the status of bookings and requests. The page contains simple count of Pending, Approved and Rejected bookings, which are color-coded for easy identification. The Pending Requests section of the home page provides detailed information on requests that are pending or in progress, made by the Sky News Staff that is logged in. This section allows the staff member to view the progress of their requests and take appropriate actions, such as approving or rejecting bookings. The Home Page of the Sky News Control Room Booking App is designed to provide an easy-to-use interface that allows Sky News Staff to quickly and efficiently manage all bookings and requests.

Dashboard

Resources365.io Control Room Booking App’s Dashboard is the first screen that Staff sees when they log in. It is primarily a calendar view that provides a variety of functionalities to help staff manage bookings and requests for the control room.

  • Checkboxes for Approved, Pending, Rejected and My Requests Only statuses, which provides Staff the ability to refine visibility of their booking by checking or unchecking any of these booking status.
  • Current Date, and controls to give them the ability to move forward and back any Calendar Date.
  • Filter for Control Rooms and Studios which gives you the ability to check or uncheck specific resources that in turn either makes it visible or not visible in the Dashboard Calendar.
  • New Request Button, which triggers the process to create a New booking request, which can also be done by right-clicking on any resource or timeslot within the Dashboard Calendar.
  • View Type, which allows you to change visibility of bookings between Monthly, Weekly, and Daily view.
  • Time Refresh Increment options, which allows you to change visibility of bookings within 15, 30 or 60 second increments.
  • Horizontal Scroll, located beneath the Dashboard Calendar, allows you to scroll left or right across Resources that are currently checked to view on the Dashboard Calendar.

Appointments

Resources365.io Control Room Booking App’s Appointments feature provides Sky News Staff with a timeline view of upcoming and historical bookings. This feature allows staff to view bookings in a chronological format, with each booking represented by a horizontal bar on the timeline. The color of the bar indicates the status of the booking (approved, pending, rejected). Staff can also filter the view to show only specific resources or certain booking statuses. Staff can also view detailed information about a specific booking by clicking on the corresponding bar in the timeline view. This feature allows staff to quickly and easily view the status of upcoming and past bookings and take appropriate actions such as approving or rejecting a booking. Additionally, Staff can also create new booking requests from this feature by clicking on the desired time slot in the timeline view, this can also be done by using the New Request button. The timeline view is also interactive, allowing you to move and resize the bookings, making it easy to schedule and manage bookings. This feature provides an alternative view to the traditional calendar view and allows Staff to easily manage and schedule bookings in a more intuitive way.

Users

Resources365.io Control Room Booking App’s Admin section provides Staff with Administrator permissions to manage the resources, channels and users within the app. Specifically, the Admin section allows Administrators to:

  • Manage Resources: This includes the ability to add new resources, including the resource name, type, and location. Administrators can also hide or show, edit, or delete any resources created.
  • Manage Channels: This includes the ability to add channel names related to your operations.
  • Manage Users: This includes the ability for Administrators to set permissions for any user in Resources365.io. Permissions include:

Admin: Enable or disable a user with Administrator control within the Resources365.io.

b. Approve or Reject: Enabling a user the ability to approve or reject requests to resources assigned and managed by a specific Staff.
c. Create Request: This is a default permission given to Staff, which gives them the ability to create a new booking within Resources365.io.
d. Create Schedule: This enables a user the ability to create maintenance schedules for any resource available within Resources365.io. This feature provides a table view of maintenance information including resource name, type of maintenance, description of the maintenance schedule, status, date, start, and end time.

The Admin section provides a centralized location for Administrators to manage and oversee various aspects of the app, including resources, channels, and users, and it provides the tools to ensure that the app is running smoothly and that the resources are being used effectively.
